The McKinney-Vento Act states that homeless children and youth are those that lack a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence.

The McKinney-Vento Act provides certain rights and protection for children and youth experiencing homelessness. SAU 19 has adequate resources and policies in place (see Policy FFABD) to accommodate the needs of every student as well as an appointed McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison to provide homeless students with any necessary assistance. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Jill Perenteau, District Homeless Liaison This email address is being protected from spambots.  A student is considered “homeless” if he or she lacks a fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence, including:

  • Sharing housing due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason
  • Living in motels, hotels, trailer parks, camping grounds due to a lack of alternative, adequate accommodation
  • Living in emergency & transitional shelters
  • Abandoned in hospitals
  • Living in public or private places not designed for or ordinarily used as regular sleeping accommodations for human beings
  • Living in cars, parks, public spaces, abandoned buildings, bus or train stations or similar situations
  • Migratory children living in the above situations

Know your educational rights!!! Under the federal McKinney-Vento Act, children and youth in homeless situations have the right to:

  • Enroll in school immediately, even if missing records and documents normally required for enrollment such as a birth certificate, proof of residence, previous school records or immunization / medical records
  • Enroll, attend classes and participate fully in all school activities while the school gathers records
  • Attend either the local school or the “school of origin”, if this is in the best interest of the student. The “school of origin: is the school the child attended when he / she was permanently housed or the school in which the child was last enrolled
  • Receive transportation to and from the “school of origin” if in the best interest of the student
  • Have access to the same programs and services that are available to all other student
  • Free breakfast and lunch for the school year

SAU 19 Section 504

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of a disability or a perceived disability and ensures that students with documented disabilities have equal access to educational opportunities.

If your student has a documented disability, they may qualify for accommodations through a 504 plan.  Eligibility for a 504 plan is determined through the referral process in which a team is convened.  A typical 504 Team may be comprised of the student (as developmentally appropriate), parents, and those professionals who know the student, understand the evaluation data, or are familiar with reasonable and appropriate accommodations.  The team will conduct a records review to determine if there is a record of a disability.

For 504 eligibility purposes, a disability is defined “a physical or mental impairment that limits one or more major life activity.”  A student may be eligible for a 504 plan if they have a disability as defined by Section 504, and if, because of this disability they require accommodations in order to participate in or benefit from their education as adequately as their non-disabled peers.

SAU 19 is committed to providing a Free and Appropriate Education (FAPE) to all students.  Families with students with disabilities can start the referral process by contacting the School Counseling Department at their child’s respective school.  For a full disclosure of parent and student rights, refer to the Notice of Parent/Student Safeguards.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended by ‘Every Student Succeeds Act’ (ESSA), requires every State and District to publish a “report card” that provides the public with important information on State, district, and school performance and progress. New Hampshire’s iReport meets this requirement by displaying various data points including student demographics, summative assessment results, ESSA ratings and educator information.

More information on state and local report cards is available in the Parent Guide to State and Local Report Cards from the US Department of Education.

To view the report card for and school in SAU19, visit the NH Department of Education's School and District Report Card homepage, select "Goffstown or New Boston" or one of our schools from the "Select a School or District" dropdown menu and a year from the "Select Year" dropdown menu and then click on "View Report."

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces, among other statutes, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX protects people from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Title IX states: “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”

Please see SAU 19 policy ACAC for information regarding the Title IX sexual harassment policy and grievance procedures.

For access to the training materials provided for the Title IX Coordinator of SAU 19; please see the ATIXA website here.

Due to a change in computer systems food service online payments WILL NOT be available as of June 1, 2022.

Welcome to Glen Lake School!

We look forward to sharing the beginning of your child’s educational journey.

Kindergarten registration is currently being accepted for the current school year 2023/2024. If your child was born between October 1, 2017 and September 30, 2018 your child is eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2023/2024 school year.  Kindergarten is a half-day program. The morning session drop off is from 8:15 to 8:30 and the pickup is at 11:00 am. The afternoon session drop off is from 12:15 to 12:30 and the pickup is at 3:00 pm. Both sessions are Monday through Friday following the Goffstown School District calendar. Bus transportation is provided both ways. Parents will be able to indicate their preference for AM or PM session on the enrollment paperwork.  If parent requests exceed session capacity, a lottery will be used to determine those students who will be placed in the session.
